One minute is the classic short interval — long enough to matter, short enough that nobody complains. This 1 minute timer starts counting the instant the page opens.
A single minute is the most-searched timer length in the world, largely because of fitness intervals and classroom activities. It is short enough that people will actually do the thing rather than negotiate with themselves first.
In sixty seconds an average adult speaks about 130 words, reads about 240, types around 40, and takes roughly 14 breaths. A minute of jump rope is about 100 skips. Knowing those numbers makes a one-minute block far easier to plan around than it first appears.
Useful when a recipe, workout plan or exam paper states the time differently:
| 1 minute in… | Value |
|---|---|
| Seconds | 60 |
| Minutes | 1 |
| Hours (decimal) | 0.0167 |
| Fraction of an hour | 1/60 of an hour |
| How many fit in an hour | 60 |
| How many fit in a day | 1,440 |
You do not need to press anything — the 1 minute began the moment this page finished loading. At zero the alarm sounds, the digits flash red and the tab title changes to a bell icon. Stop Alarm silences it; Reset starts a fresh 1 minute.
You can change the alarm sound at any point before or during the countdown — Beep, Digital, Alarm Bell, Chime, Siren and Soft Wake are all available, and each plays a short preview when selected. To use a different length, press Reset and type any duration, or pick one from the main timer page.
Need something else? Try a little shorter with the 30 second timer or a little longer with the 2 minute timer. For a round comparison, exactly half this length is the 30 second timer, and double it and you get the 2 minute timer.
At a resting rate you take about 12 to 16 breaths per minute. Slow breathing exercises usually target 5 or 6 full cycles in the same minute, which is why a 1 minute timer is the standard starting point.
For moderate sets of 8–12 reps, one minute is a common prescription. For heavy strength work most lifters need two to three minutes — use the 3 minute timer instead.
Yes — the countdown begins as soon as the page loads, so there is nothing to press. If you would rather start it yourself, press Reset and then Start.
Yes. Pause holds the remaining time exactly where it is; Resume continues from that point and Reset returns the clock to the full 1 minute.
VClock plays your selected alarm sound on a loop, flashes the display and changes the browser tab title. Press Stop Alarm to silence it.
Completely. There is no sign-up, no download, no daily limit and no watermark — set it as many times as you like.
Switch to the VClock alarm clock to ring at a specific hour instead of counting down.
