Thirty seconds feels like nothing until you have to hold a plank for it. This preset starts the moment the page loads, so you can begin immediately without touching a single button.
Half a minute is the shortest interval most people can usefully time. Below that, reaction time and the act of starting the clock eat too much of the interval to be meaningful.
Thirty seconds is enough for roughly 25 fast push-ups, one verse of a song, reading about 80 words aloud, or a complete round of thorough handwashing. It is also almost exactly the length of a television advertisement, which is why it feels so familiar as a unit.
Useful when a recipe, workout plan or exam paper states the time differently:
| 30 seconds in… | Value |
|---|---|
| Seconds | 30 |
| Minutes | 0.5 |
| Hours (decimal) | 0.0083 |
| Fraction of an hour | 0/1 of an hour |
| How many fit in an hour | 120 |
| How many fit in a day | 2,880 |
The countdown above is already running. When it reaches zero VClock plays your chosen alarm, flashes the display and updates the browser tab title, so you will notice even if you have moved to another window. Press Stop Alarm to silence it or Reset to run the same 30 seconds again.
You can change the alarm sound at any point before or during the countdown — Beep, Digital, Alarm Bell, Chime, Siren and Soft Wake are all available, and each plays a short preview when selected. To use a different length, press Reset and type any duration, or pick one from the main timer page.
Need something else? Try a little longer with the 1 minute timer. For a round comparison, double it and you get the 1 minute timer.
Health authorities generally recommend scrubbing for at least 20 seconds, so a 30 second timer gives you a comfortable margin including rinsing.
For most beginners, 30 seconds is a realistic first target. Once it feels easy, move up to the 1 minute timer rather than adding more sets.
Yes — the countdown begins as soon as the page loads, so there is nothing to press. If you would rather start it yourself, press Reset and then Start.
Yes. Pause holds the remaining time exactly where it is; Resume continues from that point and Reset returns the clock to the full 30 seconds.
VClock plays your selected alarm sound on a loop, flashes the display and changes the browser tab title. Press Stop Alarm to silence it.
Completely. There is no sign-up, no download, no daily limit and no watermark — set it as many times as you like.
Switch to the VClock alarm clock to ring at a specific hour instead of counting down.
