Half an hour is the most common longer interval — a workout, a meeting, a study session or a full oven stage. The countdown starts as soon as the page loads.
Thirty minutes is long enough for genuinely deep concentration but still fits inside a lunch break. It is also the default calendar block in most workplaces, which makes it the natural unit for planning a day.
Half an hour is two blocks an hour and 48 a day. It covers a complete gym session including warm-up, a brisk 3 kilometre walk, the first proof of a bread dough in a warm kitchen, or about 7,200 words of reading — a short book chapter.
Useful when a recipe, workout plan or exam paper states the time differently:
| 30 minutes in… | Value |
|---|---|
| Seconds | 1,800 |
| Minutes | 30 |
| Hours (decimal) | 0.5000 |
| Fraction of an hour | 1/2 of an hour |
| How many fit in an hour | 2 |
| How many fit in a day | 48 |
The countdown above is already running. When it reaches zero VClock plays your chosen alarm, flashes the display and updates the browser tab title, so you will notice even if you have moved to another window. Press Stop Alarm to silence it or Reset to run the same 30 minutes again.
You can change the alarm sound at any point before or during the countdown — Beep, Digital, Alarm Bell, Chime, Siren and Soft Wake are all available, and each plays a short preview when selected. To use a different length, press Reset and type any duration, or pick one from the main timer page.
Need something else? Try a little shorter with the 25 minute timer or a little longer with the 40 minute timer. For a round comparison, exactly half this length is the 15 minute timer, and double it and you get the 1 hour timer.
For most goals, yes. Thirty focused minutes three to five times a week outperforms occasional ninety-minute sessions, largely because it is a schedule people actually keep.
Because calendar software defaults to it, not because most meetings need it. Try running the same agenda against the 15 minute timer — a surprising number of meetings finish early.
Yes — the countdown begins as soon as the page loads, so there is nothing to press. If you would rather start it yourself, press Reset and then Start.
Yes. Pause holds the remaining time exactly where it is; Resume continues from that point and Reset returns the clock to the full 30 minutes.
VClock plays your selected alarm sound on a loop, flashes the display and changes the browser tab title. Press Stop Alarm to silence it.
Completely. There is no sign-up, no download, no daily limit and no watermark — set it as many times as you like.
Switch to the VClock alarm clock to ring at a specific hour instead of counting down.
